After decades of military use, nature has regained its rights and is open to the visitor. The brandies of Soyaux are characterized:
• to the north, by small limestone cliffs sheltering short vegetation of the sub-Mediterranean type;
• in the center, by a vast heath with heather trees bordered by coppices of oaks and chestnut trees.
Long ignored, this 70-hectare area in the heart of the Greater Angoulême agglomeration is of major interest, in that it is the largest moors site in the Charente department. This type of habitat, unique in the city, is extremely rich in animal and plant species, which the 9 play stations of the trail invite you to discover.

Après des décennies d’utilisation militaire, la nature a repris ses droits et s’ouvre au visiteur. Les brandes de Soyaux se caractérisent :
• au nord, par de petites falaises calcaires abritant une végétation rase de type subméditerranéenne ;
• au centre, par une vaste lande à bruyères arborescentes bordée de taillis de chênes et de châtaigniers.
Longtemps méconnu, cet espace de 70 ha au cœur de l’agglomération du Grand Angoulême présente un intérêt majeur, dans la mesure où il constitue le plus grand site de landes du département de la Charente. Ce type d’habitat, unique sur l’agglomération, se révèle extrêmement riche en espèces animales et végétales, que les 9 stations ludiques du sentier vous invitent à découvrir.
