The War Memorial was originally erected in memory of the of one nursing sister and 47 men of the shire who had made the supreme sacrifice soldiers in World War One. The names of those who lost their lives in World War Two were added to the memorial at a later date.The memorial features a soldier resting at arms reversed on a rectangular column.
The front inscription is :-

1914 - 1919

They gave their best, their lives their all"
