The culvert is on the rail trail now known as the Ottawa-Carleton Trailway (part of the Trans Canada Trail). The rail trail is south of and parallel to the Crawford Sideroad. The extension of the sideroad can be seen from the culvert. This culvert is a short walk west from the crossing of Dwyer Hill Road.

There is another sister culvert east of Dwyer Hill Road. Despite being covered in moss and lichens, these 1929 culverts are in much better condition than the older culverts along this railbed.

Back in 1929, workers with the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) identified this particular culvert as Milepost 25.6. This section of railroad was known as the CPR's Carleton Place sub-division and this culvert was 25.6 miles from the station in Ottawa. The culvert has not carried railroad traffic since 1990. The railbed dates back to 1870.

The date is stamped on the north facing wall of the culvert. With no direct sunlight, it is difficult to photograph.
