The Moseley Railway Trust run the Apedale Valley Light Railway that is located in the Apedale Country Park adjacent to the Heritage Centre.

"The Apedale Valley Light Railway was officially opened in September 2010 by the Moseley Railway Trust. The railway normally operates a diesel service on every Saturday during its opening season, and the second weekend of every month is a Steam weekend. Keep an eye on www.avlr.org.uk for timetables and information in special events, as it becomes available. Standard Fares are £3.50 for adults and £1.50 for children with a family ticket costing £8.
The Moseley Railway Trust aims to preserve industrial narrow gauge railway locomotives, rolling stock and other equipment. The trust’s collection includes examples from the Steel, Peat, Glass, Water, Brick, Explosives and Sewage Industries. You can view a selection from the MRT’s collection in the Heritage Centre museum."

The Apedale Valley Light Railway is a 2’0 gauge railway operated by the Moseley Railway Trust and is staffed by volunteers.
Although the track is currently only a few hundred metres long, but there are plans to extend the railway and the round trip journey takes around 15 minutes.
The station building located next to the Apedale Heritage Centre used to be located at Silverdale, on the North Staffordshire Railway.
Trains are hauled by either steam or diesel locomotives from the Trust’s collection, depending on the day. The coaches are also historically interesting – ranging from a replica of a coach used in a north wales slate quarry to a more modern coach formerly operated on the famous Ffestiniog Railway. Some coaches are open and unheated – so if it’s a cold day, wrap up warmly!
There is a well-stocked shop in the main station building.
On days when steam locomotives are operating, tours of the main locomotive shed can be arranged enabling visitors to see many of the Trust’s large collection of locomotives.
The Apedale Heritage Centre also has a free-to-enter museum, and a cafe with a wide range of food and drinks.

Trains can also be chartered by arrangement, even on days when they do not normally operate.

The Apedale Community Country Park has 184 hectares of open space to explore with a varied landscape of woodland, meadows and pools crossed by many paths and tracks. The land at this location was previously an opencast mine until as recently as 1998.
The Heritage Centre which was founded in 2001 on the site of the Apedale Colliery, which had closed a few years earlier in 1998. The centre is run entirely by volunteers with their main funding coming from the café, mine tours and donations. (visit link)
