Findagrave page give his full name as "William Riley Isbell", and there is a clipping from the April 30, 1908 edition of the Ada (Oklahoma)
Weekly News listing him among the casualties of the tornado that struck Deport on April 23. His memorial notes that his family had taken shelter from what was then called a "cyclone", but after a long day of making house calls, Dr. Isbell chose to finish his supper before joining his family in safety. He chose poorly.
There is no reference to the tornado on his standard issue Woodmen of the World memorial, which notes "Deport Camp No. 248" in the organizational emblem. The inscription is:
