Brandts Klædefabrik tog sin begyndelse i midten af 1700-tallet med et mindre farveri. Herefter voksede fabrikken og bredte sig gennem hundrede år som et kludetæppe over det område, der i dag hedder Brandts Passage. I 1869 blev fabrikken udbygget til klædefabrik. I 1970’erne fik man for alvor konkurrence fra udlandet og fabrikken måtte lukke i 1977.
Bygningerne bliver nu brugt til forskellige kulturelle tilbud.

In the mid-1700s, Brandts Klædefabrik started as a small dye-works. Over the following hundred years the factory grew and expanded to the surrounding area like a patchwork quilt. Today this area is called Brandts Passage. In 1869 the factory expanded to a textile factory.
During the 1970s, international competition increased and the factory closed down in 1977.
The buildings are now being used for various cultural offerings.
