This locomotive is the kid’s favorite attraction in Dennis the Menace Park in Monterey. It was donated to the city by the Southern Pacific Company in 1956.
Originally, this waymark was called "Southern Pacific Co. Locomotive". I don’t know anything about locomotives. In a futile attempt to pretend I do, I did an extensive web search but couldn’t find out anything about this particular engine. Monterey websites generally refer to "the big black locomotive in Dennis the Menace Park." So, I posted this picture of the license number, hoping somebody could educate me. within only eight hours, Rose Red informed me, that the locomotive in question is a Southern Pacific 'Switcher' Class S-14.
Thank you for the quick response! |
