Cathedral Rock is a sandstone butte located just south of Sedona in Yavapai County, Arizona. A stylized painting of the iconic and oft-photographed formation appears on this 2012 stamp celebrating Arizona’s 100th birthday. In 1912 Arizona, along with New Mexico, became the last of the 48 contiguous states to join the union. Cathedral Rock is easily seen from the nearby Red Rock State Park.
