Halve Maan was een buitenwerk van de vestingwerken van Schoonhoven. Dit vestingwerk is in de 19e eeuw gesloopt (bron: historischeverenigingschoonhoven.nl). De straat Halve Maan is naar het vestingwerk genoemd. Het is natuurlijk ook een verwijzing naar de vroegere vorm van het vestingwerk en naar de maan!


Halve Maan (half moon) was an exterior work of the fortifications of Schoonhoven. This fortification was demolished in the 19th century (source: Historischeverenigingchoonhoven.nl). Halve Maan (half moon) street is named after the fortification. It is of course also a reference to the former form of the fortification and to the moon!
