[PT] "Fechado há várias décadas, o castelo de Montalegre voltou este domingo a ganhar vida. Fica agora aberto ao público e pretende tornar-se na sala de visitas do concelho e também na alavanca da economia local. O momento foi de muita festa, tanto mais que ontem se comemorava em Montalegre o Dia do Município.
"Eu tenho 67 anos e nunca vi o castelo aberto. Agora vai ficar ao serviço da economia e do desenvolvimento da região", explicou Orlando Alves, presidente da Câmara Municipal de Montalegre.
Este monumento nacional sofreu obras no valor de 1,5 milhões de euros, intervenções inseridas na Operação Castelos a Norte, que foi lançada pela Direção Regional de Cultura.
O projeto foi depois executado pela câmara, que assegurou também a comparticipação nacional. "Agora só faz realmente falta que os empresários locais se apercebam do potencial que o castelo vai constituir.
Porque esta segunda-feira também é dia de preparar o futuro e de fazer pedagogia, eu não resisto a dizer que já não estamos mais em tempo de ver, à noite, os restaurantes da vila fechados", disse Orlando Alves, que considera que este investimento "está muitíssimo atrasado no tempo".
As obras incidiram nas torres do castelo, na praça das armas, na consolidação da muralha abaluartada e na beneficiação dos arruamentos e largos envolventes.
O Monumento Nacional foi aberto ao público pelo líder da autarquia, que recebeu as chaves da mão do empreiteiro responsável pela requalificação. Assim que as portas abriram foram muitas as pessoas que quiseram ver o interior castelo."[EN]

The works focused on the towers of the castle, in the Plaza de Armas, in the consolidation of the bastioned wall and in the improvement of the streets and wide surroundings.
The National Monument was opened to the public by the leader of the municipality, who received the keys from the contractor responsible for the requalification. As soon as the doors opened, many people wanted to see the castle interior."
