The White Bear is a Grade II listed thatched 18th century building located prominently on the roundabout by the old market place.

The pub has stone-flagged floors and cosy drinking areas with historic photographs on the walls.

The description given by Historic England reads as follows;
"SJ7478 CANUTE PLACE 792-1/3/3 (South side) 15/01/74 The White Bear Public House
GV II
Public house, probably originally dwelling. Probably late C16 but refurbished early C20. Mock timberwork and render over timber-frame with thatched roof. 2 storeys, main range and cross-wing plan, with doorway in left-hand angle of central range, backing on to stack. 3-light casement windows on each floor in wings, and in main range. Mock framing to upper storey, jettied in right-hand wing, and expressed as square panels with tension bracing, possibly reflecting form of original framing beneath.
