In 1887, Antoine Cristal bought the Château de Parnay and its vines. In 1890, he was the first to plant foreign grape varieties, thus saving the Loire Valley vineyard from phylloxera. He also borrows from the producers of Chasselas de Thomery, their vine growing technique which he puts into practice first in Souzay-Champigny in what will become the “Clos Cristal”, then in the “Clos entre les murs At Parnay. In addition, he built a grafting school near his castle. His memory was honored, in 1947, by the making of a bust representing him, at the edge of the road, in front of his house.

En 1887, Antoine Cristal achète le château de Parnay et ses vignes. En 1890, il est le premier à implanter des cépages étrangers, sauvant ainsi du phylloxéra le vignoble de la Vallée de la Loire. Il emprunte également aux producteurs de Chasselas de Thomery, leur technique de culture de la vigne qu'il met en pratique d'abord à Souzay-Champigny dans ce qui deviendra le « Clos Cristal », puis dans le « Clos d'entre les murs » à Parnay. Il bâtit de surcroît, près de son château, une école de greffage. Sa mémoire fut honorée, en 1947, par la réalisation d'un buste le représentant, au bord de la route, face à sa demeure.
