This is a two-story red brick building with a canted entrance, constructed in 1902, one year after the founding of Hobart. The upper wall has rows of corbelling and decorative brickwork. The second floor has a row of single 9-over-9 hung windows with brick arches and a continuous stone sill. There are six windows along Jefferson, one on the canted corner and fourteen along 4th Street. It appears that the second level contains apartment units, and several windows have window air-conditioners.
The main entrance has a newer metal door, with a fanlight. The segmented transom is painted. The entry is located between two pilasters, with a horizontal entabulature. Above the entry is a brick arch filled with masonry. Engraved in the cast stone are the words "FARMERS & MERCHANTS NATIONAL BANK". Windows on the ground floor are also 9-over-9 units with brick arches. There are three storefronts along 4th Street which are possibly offices; the single storefront on Jefferson was vacant at the time of our visit. There is no address visible on the building, however, we believe it would be 330 S. Jefferson St.
