Ohio was admitted as the 17th state of the United States in 1803. In commemoration of Ohio’s 200th anniversary, the U.S. Postal Service issued this stamp in 2003. It shows a photograph of a rural farm on Stanleyville Narrows Rd. just north of Marietta. (Marietta, incidentally, was the first permanent English settlement in what was to eventually become the State of Ohio.) The view is looking north from Stanleyville Rd. about halfway between the small community of Stanleyville and Interstate 77 in Washington County.
