Although this sculpture is made of galvanized metal, it is a representation of a soft face hammer that in reality has hard plastic or some sort of rubber material as the striking head instead of steel. This softer material will still deliver a forceful blow to the object being hit but will not damage the surface being struck. You may need this kind of hammer to dislodge a rusty brake pad or two metal plates that are stuck together but that could be damaged if hit by a metal-headed framing hammer or ball and pein hammer. The strike force of a soft face hammer is tempered by the softer material (plastic, rubber, fiberglass, etc.) but still delivers enough force to get movement or torque from the intended object being struck..
This featured tool is a SOFT FACE HAMMER. Usually each side of the hammer's heads are of different materials, giving the same hammer the option of a slightly firmer face on one side than the other. Neither of the faces are made of metal.
