On the night of June 27, 2017, 17 year old Corbin Carr, was riding his bicycle northbound on 10th Avenue at W 55th Street in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan when he collided with a truck. He was illegally passing a red light when he was struck by a truck traveling westbound on W. 55th St. at 12:10 am. Medics rushed him to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center Hospital where he died.
The ghost bike is chained to a metal post that has a sign which has the image of a bicycle within a heart. It is inscribed:
