Until recently, few houses have occupied the wine terroir, with the exception of noble or clerical properties which dominated the Loire.

In the 18th century, the parish cemetery in front of the church collapsed in the cellars and collapse threatened ... In the 1960s, the base of the church had to be consolidated again, thanks to the department of Maine and Loire. The old troglodyte town hall has disappeared.

l'ancienne Mairie a disparu dans un effondrement du coteau au 18eme Siecle.
La nouvelle a été construite a cette époque. Elle est en Calcaire. Elle est assez simple avec un étage au bord de la route de Saumur.

L’originalité du village de Parnay situé à 6 km de Saumur est d'avoir possédé trois authentiques châteaux viticoles (château de Parnay, château du Marconnay et château de Targé) qui dès la fin du XVIIe siècle ont contribué à porter la viticulture à un haut degré de perfection. Au XVIIIe siècle, le vin de la côte de Saumur est alors appelé «de Morains», en référence au château de Morains situé sur la commune de Dampierre et fait vivre 60 % de la population.
L'église Saint-Pierre de Parnay au bord du côteau, dominant la Loire a dominé la vie du village jusqu’au XVIIIe siècle. Le curé possédait une petit dîme mais très bien valorisée en vignoble. Jusqu'à récemment peu de maisons ont occupé le terroir viticole à l'exception des propriétés nobles ou cléricales qui dominaient la Loire .

Au 18e siècle, le cimetière paroissial au devant de l'église s'est effondré dans les caves et l’effondrement menaçait... Dans les années 1960, le soubassement de l'église a du à nouveau être consolidé, grâce au département de Maine et Loire. L’ancienne mairie en troglodyte, elle, a disparu.
