Pakse is one of the larger cities of southern Laos and on the land route to Vietnam. Thus the presence of a Vietnamese consulate is expected. The consulate consists of a building enclosed by a high and imposing wall. There are two entrances. One is the official, main entrance with a gate and a lethargic guard, and a second, busier and smaller entrance through which one applies for a visa. Photography at the main entrance is deterred by a glare from the guard.
The waymark was made at the official entrance.
The visa application as at this date is fast as can be. About half an hour.
