Claverleigh is a relatively uncommon example of a residence (rather than say an institution) built in the Gothic Revival style. William Forster commissioned his architect brother to design and build it circa 1870. It was once a rectory.

The Gothic Revival style is mostly associated with churches and is in the main not considered appropriate for residences. Claverleigh is nonetheless a relatively rare example of a house done in this style. It is of board and batten construction punctuated by steeply pitched gable roofs. These characteristic gothic pointed arches, the verandah, the wooden building material and the rural setting crisscrossed by a river make for a picturesque property. William Forster built this residence in the Creemore area, according to plans drawn up by his architect brother, circa 1870. It served as a rectory for much of its existence. Claverleigh was designated a national historic site in 1990 and a federal plaque was unveiled at an elaborate ceremony in 2017. The plaque is out by the highway at the entrance to a long lead-in driveway.
