In Greek mythology, Galatea is a sea nymph, one of the fifty daughters of Nereus and Doris, called the Nereid.
A granite statue of Galatea, together with a group of four Tritons is displayed in a small park in Brandenburg, Germany. Neptune's moon Neptune VI was discovered in late July 1989 from the images taken by the Voyager 2 probe and named after the nymph. |
