Elk Mountain Overlook is located at Milepost 274.2 along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The sign at this location states "Elev. 3795" which is very close to what my GPSr reported (3745.5')

"This property includes a prominent ridge along the boundary between Watauga and Wilkes counties, visible from Elk Mountain Overlook. Hikers on the Mountains-to-Sea Trail will enjoy views of this property where the trail skirts the upper boundary of this tract."
