Sheets Gap Overlook is located at Milepost 253 along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The elevation is reported to be 3342'.

"The Sheets Gap property encompasses 1,145 acres on the Blue Ridge escarpment in Wilkes County and is highly visible from the Sheets Gap Overlook. In the early 1900’s most of the property was logged by Giant Lumber Company. Timber was transported by flume to Wilkesboro until the flume was extensively damaged by the 1916 flood. Now fully recovered, the property consists of mature hardwood and acidic cove forests, and contains miles of pristine headwater tributaries of the Yadkin River."
