EN: This monument stands in a small park opposite the railway station of Domodossola. It commemorates the uprising of the people of this valley against the German and Italian fascist troops and the short-lived democratic Republic of Ossola in autumn 1944. Although only successful for 44 days, it is seen as a symbol for a democratic Italy until today. On September 23, 1945 the valley received the gold medal for military valor by the then minister Jacini.

The monument consists of three granite blocks, the central one is about four meters high, the other two look like wings.One of them has "alla resistenza" in golden letters on its front side. In front of them there is a large bronze plaque with this text:
