The clock is situated on Lloyds Bank in Fountain Square in the centre of Hanley.
The clock is mounted on the side of the building in a large square wooden frame painted in black with white 3D relief angel faces set into the inner corners. The white circular clock face is edged in black and has black roman numerals, minute markers and ornate hands.
Fountain square is a pedestrianised shopping area in Hanley.
The present Lloyds Bank was built in the 1930's.
The site was previously occupied by the following buildings;
"Hanley's second Town Hall - built in 1845 (on the site of an old Butter Market) at a cost of £5,500 - in 1886 it became Lloyds bank. The town hall also housed the police station. This building was demolished during the mid-1930's, when the present Lloyds Bank was built in its place." Source: (
