"George Wilson Shelby, 26, of Jefferson City, formerly of Columbia and Charleston, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, in Jefferson City. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at Missouri United Methodist Church in Columbia. "He was born Aug. 8, 1985, to Roy Baker and Frances Wilson Shelby, who survive of Phoenix. George is the grandson of Mary Kay Wilson of Paradise Valley, Ariz., and the late F.M. Wilson; Elizabeth Shelby of Milwaukee, Wis., and the late George U. Shelby Jr. and Janice Baker Shelby.

"George was a 2004 graduate of Rock Bridge High School in Columbia, had attended Westminster College in Fulton and was a student at Metro Business College in Jefferson City. George had been a faithful volunteer of Missouri United Methodist Church in Columbia.

"Surviving are his sister, Kate Shelby Stull (Kevin) and beloved nephew Rob of Columbia; three maternal aunts, Kitty Clark Richards (Craig) of Columbia, Kathy Hunt (Greg) of Cave Creek, Ariz., and Mary Kay Bettes of Platte City; and paternal aunts and uncles George Clay Shelby (Jamee) of Charleston, Janette Shelby Smith (Andy) of Nashville, Tenn., Lori Ann Shelby Malugen (John) of St. Louis and Jeffrey Joseph Shelby (Lisa) of Charleston; cousins Sarah Richards and Amy Richards Perkins, Katie, Max and Maggie Hunt, Elizabeth, Gary and Ellen Bettes, Janice Shelby Kyramarios (Dino), Daniel Shelby (Crystal), James Shelby, Shelby, Caroline and Mack Smith, Christopher Shelby, the late Andrew Shelby and Lexi Stockman, and Elizabeth and Emily Malugen.
