"North Ferriby Parish Council acquired this land-fill site from Humberside County Council in 1987. The Riverside Walkway Committee of North Ferriby Parish Council have carried out work to improve the site's landscape, wildlife and recreational value.
Since 1987, over 3,000 trees and shrubs have been planted on the northern half of the site to create a predominantly Ash Woodland. Oak, Field Maple, Corsican Pine, Wild Cherry and Alder have also been planted to increase the species diversity of the woodland. Shrubs, including Hawthorn, Blackthorn, Dogrose and Goat Willow have been introduced to provide a richer habitat for wildlife."
