"With the end of its aided contract, the Memory Museum of the Nationale 7 is in great difficulty. After fearing that it would close on May 1st, it was granted a six-month reprieve.
What if the Musée Mémoire de la Nationale 7 closed after only six years of existence? It should even have closed on 1 May. This is what was envisaged a few weeks ago, which would have happened without the exceptional grant of 3,000 euros awarded by the municipality. Thanks to this envelope, the museum will be able to finance a part-time host contract for 20 hours a week for six months from its own funds. What happens next?
In the meantime, the association will make greater use of volunteers and cut back on its opening hours. Until now, for example, in the summer, the museum was open seven days a week, 24 hours a day. This summer, it will only be in the afternoon, five days a week.
"Apart from the municipality of Piolenc, we have no help" - Christian Braud, president of the association
Christian Braud, the president of the association Mémoire de la Nationale 7 regrets the lack of involvement of local authorities. He asserts that only the municipality of Piolenc puts its hand in the pocket thanks to exceptional aid and by financing half of the rent. "The other local authorities do nothing at all: the intermunicipality has been absent since we have existed. The department and the region have refused to accept us. And there is no more parliamentary reserve." Another problem: "We are told that we are not labeled Musées de France, so we have no right to anything."
