The bridge built in 1888 carries a single 1.44m track on a ballasted deck. The timber deck structure rests on timber deck type trusses with two truss spans of 12.8m and four at 12.2m. The low brick piers have stone caps directly beneath the trusses and partway down each pier.
In 1930 the standard gauge track was completed to Brisbane via Kyogle and the Great Northern Railway started to go into decline. The last passenger services ran to Wallangarra in 1972.
According to the AHD website "The bridge is in service and appears to be in good condition and in its original state." Obviously they haven't seen it lately!!
