Shurtliff Engineering was a Pocatello based company that engineers, surveys, and plans.
In 2001 they merged with RMES and go by that business name to this day. They have a slew of benchmarks throughout the city and much like this one, they are all 2" aluminium disks protruding from the ground about a quarter inch. They are stamped with "Shurtliff Engineering" around the top half of the perimeter and a specific alphanumeric at the bottom. From what I can gather from my research online, these are used in marking corners of property boundaries.
Directions:
From the west most corner of Bill Burke's house of photography, go north 1' and look on the ground. In front of you will be a long listing of contributors to the murals nearby.
