This Warren truss bridge connects the east and west sides of the River Irwell.

There are footpaths on both sides of the river but on the eastern side there is only a path to the north of the bridge so it allows walkers to cross sides to continue following the footpath on the other side of the river.

The land to the east is used as a recreation area and has been designated a Local Nature Reserve. In times of heavy rain it also acts as a flood basin to protect local houses.
