The bench has the emblem of the City of Krum Public Library on top, and on the side, it reads "In Loving Memory", "Perry Burns".
Mr. Burns's Findagrave page notes that he had roots in Hopkins County out in East Texas, and early life took him to Oklahoma, where he is buried with his young son. He and his wife returned to Texas in 1967. He had a background in ranching and cattle: He was superintendent for the North Texas State Fair for breeding cattle, the President of the Denton County Livestock Association and an active supporter of Krum FFA and 4-H. He also served on the Krum City Council. His wife, June, was on the initial board of directors when the Krum Public Library was established in 1979, and one can presume that he provided the same service with a smile to the library that he did for others.
