The River Irwell
"The River Irwell is a 39-mile (63 km) long river which flows through the Irwell Valley in North West England. Its source is at Irwell Springs on Deerplay Moor, approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north of Bacup. It forms the boundary between Manchester and Salford and empties into the River Mersey near Irlam." link

Kersal Dale
"Kersal Dale is located next to the River Irwell and provides a perfect opportunity for relaxation.

The area is classed as a site of biological importance and local nature reserve and is home to a variety of spectacular wildlife such as woodpeckers and kingfishers which can be regularly spotted along the river." link

Kersal Wetlands
"STUNNING SALFORD WETLANDS AND FLOOD BASIN UNVEILED

Star date: 2nd February 2018

£10MILLION FLOOD BASIN AND WETLANDS FINALLY COMPLETE

Today, the £10million second Salford Flood Basin was officially unveiled, two years after the Boxing Day Flood of 2015. As well as claiming to protect 2,000 homes from future floods, the basin doubles as a stunning wetland area, with incredible artwork and views." link

The Bridge
The bridge was installed to link the wetlands area with footpaths in Kersal Dale.
