This simple small plaque is significant to the World War One memorial of Laurieton.

This is a simple plaque, for a very significant occasion at the early stage of The Great War (aka World War One). The long bronze plaque, shaped like a ribbon, is below the Australian Commonwealth Military Forces crest, on the base of the World War One monument at the northern entrance to Laurieton. The base is of trachyte, with four white columns, and a white marble sculpture of "Peace", holding a wreath in her right hand. The monument was unveiled in November, 1924 [ex-Monuments Australia: Laurieton.

ANZAC Day, and the term ANZAC first officially became recognised in April 1916, to commemorate the GREAT loss of Australian and New Zealand soldiers in the joint Allied assault at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915. A very sad occasion. The very simple plaque reads:
