Love awe inspiring views but don’t have what it takes to hike to the top of Half Dome (16 miles round trip with an elevation gain of over 4700 feet... as seen in the background of the photoabove)? Cloud’s Rest seems like anything but a rest stop? (Also over 16 miles with huge elevations gains)? If so, this hike is for you!
This hike will take you to the top of Sentinel Dome with views that rival that of other less accessible landmarks in Yosemite. But you can drive to within a moderately easy 1.5 mile hike if you leave from Glacier Point trailhead.
On the other hand, if you want a more challenging hike, you can leave from the valley floor and hike all the way to Sentinel Dome via Glacier Point. There are several trails that will get you to Glacier Point, but my favorite is 4-mile trail, which starts just east of Bridalveil Falls. This would be about a 12 mile hike with 4000 foot elevation gain.
