CZ: 1834 Palach je planetka nacházející se v hlavním pásu asteroidu. Objevil ji L. Kohoutek (1969). Pojmenována na památku ceského studenta filozofie Jana Palacha, který se upálil 16. ledna 1969 na Václavském námestí v Praze na protest proti okupaci Ceskoslovenska v minulém srpnu. Okupace znamenala náhlé ukoncení reformního hnutí známého jako Pražské jaro.

EN: 1834 Palach is an asteroid located in the main asteroid belt. It was discovered by L. Kohoutek (1969). Named in memory of the Czech philosophy student Jan Palach, who burned himself on 16th January 1969 on Wenceslas Square in Prague in protest against the occupation of Czechoslovakia last August. The occupation meant a sudden end to the reform movement known as the Prague Spring.
