The Hobart Fire Department is housed in an historic three-story brick building at 103 E. 3rd Street. The fire department occupies the ground floor with the upper floors occupied as Shortgrass Playhouse, a live performance venue.

The siren is mounted on an elevated portion of the theater roof and consists of a ten-horn siren with the horns facing in a 360 degree circle.
