This amazing red granite "Book of Life" headstone sits atop a granite base, with the family name, "Sampson", on the back cover, and "Book of Life" on the spine. Note the handiwork on the pages visible on the top and side. The two doves are in the upper corners on the front cover, and atop a scallop shell -- a symbol denoting a crossing over or passage, like seashells do -- is a title box, which reads:
