FR Au milieu du jardin, dessiné suivant les plans de Le Nôtre, du château d'Entrecastreaux, on peut voir cet ensemble atypique.
Un bassin, rond, comporte un rocher en son centre, d'où s'écoule l'eau.
Au-dessus du rocher, une astrolabe armillaire. Ce type de sphère, avec un système de visée, a servi à déterminer les coordonnées célestes des astres à l'époque de l'astronomie prétélescopique. Née dans l'Antiquité, elle disparaît pratiquement à la fin de la Renaissance dans les pays occidentaux.
Les éléments fondamentaux sont des armilles, cercles métalliques de la sphère céleste et différents éléments supplémentaires ou accessoires :
  • l'horizon du lieu ;
  • le plan méridien local, dans lequel on inclinera l'axe de la sphère mouvante, en fonction de la latitude du lieu
Cet ensemble est ici à sa place car le château appartenait à un amiral, explorateur.
EN In the middle of the garden, designed according to the plans of Le Nôtre, the castle of Entrecastreaux, you can see this atypical complex.
A round basin has a rock in its centre, from which the water flows.
Above the rock, an armillary astrolabe. This type of sphere, with a sighting system, was used to determine the celestial coordinates of the stars in the era of pre-telescopic astronomy. Born in antiquity, it practically disappeared at the end of the Renaissance in Western countries.
The fundamental elements are armor, metal circles of the celestial sphere and various additional elements or accessories:
  • the horizon of the place;
  • the local meridian plane, in which the axis of the moving sphere will be tilted according to the latitude of the place
This ensemble is here in its place because the castle belonged to an admiral, explorer.
