A free-standing arch marks the western end of the first phase of Monoosnoc Brook Walk in downtown Leominster, Massachusetts. A blue and white structure, it spans the sidewalk and marks the park. A pair of cylindrical columns support a solid blue arch. The columns are decorated with a series of vertical, wavy stripes that alternate white and blue. Low square bases painted solid blue secure them at ground level. The words "MONOOSNOC BROOK WALK" in uppercase white text appear on both sides of the arch.
The Monoosnoc Brook Greenway Project is a partnership between residents and businesses of Leominster formed in 1987, as part of the Nashua River Watershed Association, to provide stewardship for the Monoosnoc Brook watershed. The project responded to the concerns of local businesses and City officials who noted the neglect and deterioration of the brook which had become littered with garbage. Through cleanups, site work, education and other events, the MBGP has been successful in restoring the beauty of the brook, and walking trails and small park areas have been established.
