The church of Nossa Senhora da Alegria is also know as the Igreja do Castelo - Church of the Castle, due to its location in the core of the medieval town, within walls of the castle.
It was built in the 17th Century (1638), with a beautiful facade decorated with tiles. In the next century it was renovated. The church consists of a nave and a presbytery with sacristy.
In the last weekend of May there are commemorations in the square, dedicated to Our Lady of Alegria (Joy).
