Our Lady of the Sign is a common motif in orthodox iconography. Our Lady of the Sign refers to the prophecy of Isaiah 7:14: "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel". The image depicts Mary with her hands upraised in prayer. In front of her is a white ovoid with an image of Jesus as a young child wearing brown robes and also with his hands raised in prayer.
