Portland Cave is the remains of an old rock quarry north of Aragon, Georgia. It is north of town beside a rail road.
There is not much written history, but the locals tell that it was a mine for lime stone used by the Portland Cement Co. years ago.

The only way to get to it is walk the rail road right of way.
It is about a half mile from the crossing south of the cave and a little longer walk from the north.
It is huge, notice the geocacher in the picture.
Awesome!!
