Dedicated to the more than 112,000 Mainers who served in that war, 2551 gave their lives for our freedom. The jeep was a vehicle universal to all branches of the Armed Services.

4,914 Bangor citizens served out country in World War II, 110 lost their lives. The Bangor Public Library displays each day the history of a Bangor veteran killed during that war.
