Text on the memorial:
The 9-11 memorial is beside the walking/jogging trail that circles through the linear park. A large brown, flat slab of rock is in the center of a rock and stone semi-circle and is engraved with the text that reads as follows: "HEROES WALK Remember - Honor - Support To Remember the tragedy of 9/11, Honor the lives lost, and Support all those who fight for freedom. September 11 Universal City, TX" Behind this central rock are four metal display boards on posts, each representing the time chronology of which airplanes crashed, where they crashed and the number of people who died as a result of that respective crash. In order from left to right, the markers read as follows: "8:46 AM - Hijackers aboard American Airlines Flight 11 crash the plane into floors 93-99 of the North Tower of the World Trade Center, killing everyone on board and hundreds inside the building." "9:03 AM - Hijackers crash United Airlines Flight 175 into floors 75-85 of the World Trade Center's South Tower, killing everyone onboard and hundreds inside the building." "9:37 AM - Hijackers onboard Flight 77 crashed the plane into the western facade of the Pentagon in Washington D.C., killing 59 aboard the plane and 125 military and civilian personnel inside the building." "10:07 AM - After passengers and crew members aboard the hijacked Flight 93 learned about the attacks in New York and Washington D.C., they mount an attempt to retake the plane. In response, Hijackers deliberately crash the plane into a field in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, killing 40 passengers and crew onboard." Behind these memorial signs is a curved retaining wall onto which are fastened circular medallions for each of the US military services of Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corp and Coast Guard, plus the Texas Police and Emergency Rescue. These are spaced along the wall to be behind each of the memorial plaques.
