HISTORY OF JEAN DAUTET
1633 Foundation of the Capuchin convent at the instigation of Cardinal Richelieu on the present location of the school.
1790 Confiscation of places and buildings that are transformed into a tobacco factory.
XVIIIth Construction of the Hotel des Duperré, currently the BREDIF (building M) and prosperity of its owners including Guy Victor who became admiral and minister.
XIXth Demolition of the body of building which housed the tobacco factory. The land is sold to the bishopric who built the Major Seminary of Charente-Maritime.
1905 Separation of Church and State which leads to the expulsion of the occupants of the seminary and to the inventory of places.
1912 Installation of the classic college of girls in the right wing of the building.
1914 Requisition of the college to transform it into a hospital of the Red Cross.
1918 Relocation in October, college in its walls.
1925 Installation of an upper elementary school in the left wing.
1938 René Josué Valin Joint Technical College is set up in the Duperré Hotel.
1940 Requisition on June 26, of the hotel Duperré. The Germans install the Kommandantur and build a blockhouse in the enclosure. The western part (building A) becomes a German hospital.
1945 Back in October, students in the premises.
1954 Merger of college and upper elementary school into a classical and modern college of young girls.
1957 The college becomes a high school.
1959 Official baptism of the high school "Jean Dautet".
1961 Official inauguration of Jean Dautet High School by Michel Debré, Prime Minister.

HISTOIRE DE JEAN DAUTET
1633 Fondation du couvent des Capucins à l’instigation du Cardinal Richelieu sur l’actuel emplacement du lycée.
1790 Confiscation des lieux et bâtiments qui sont transformés en manufacture de tabac.
XVIIIème Construction de l’hôtel des Duperré, actuellement le BREDIF (bâtiment M) et prospérité de ses propriétaires dont Guy Victor qui devint amiral et ministre.
XIXème Démolition du corps de bâtiment qui abritait la manufacture de tabac. Le terrain est vendu à l’évêché qui y fait construire le Grand Séminaire de Charente-Maritime.
1905 Séparation de l’Église et de l’État qui conduit à l’expulsion des occupants du séminaire et à l’inventaire des lieux.
1912 Installation du collège classique de jeunes filles dans l’aile droite du bâtiment.
1914 Réquisition du collège pour le transformer en hôpital de la Croix Rouge.
1918 Réinstallation en octobre, du collège dans ses murs.
1925 Installation d’une école primaire supérieur dans l’aile gauche.
1938 Installation du collège technique mixte René Josué Valin dans l’hôtel Duperré.
1940 Réquisition le 26 juin, de l’hôtel Duperré. Les allemands y installent la Kommandantur et construisent un Blockhaus dans l’enceinte. La partie ouest (bâtiment A) devient un hôpital allemand.
1945 Rentrée en octobre, d’élèves dans les locaux.
1954 Fusion du collège et de l’école primaire supérieure en un collège classique et moderne de jeunes filles.
1957 Le collège devient un lycée.
1959 Baptême officiel du lycée « Jean Dautet ».
1961 Inauguration officielle du lycée Jean Dautet par Michel Debré, Premier Ministre.
