Upon returning home from a trip to the Indonesian Island of Sulawesi, on a quest to find new types of insects to increase her knowledge and understanding of entomology, Amanda Clarkson quickly scanned her mail to discover if an invitation to lecture at the world famous Canadian Museum of Nature was among the pile of letters that had been left to accumulate since her departure. One letter in particular attracted her attention, it being addressed to her in a beautiful calligraphy script from emeritus entomology professor Guillaume Antoine Olivier. Giddy with anticipation at having received the invitation and the prospect of addressing a group of eminent scientists, she rushed in her clothes closet only to realize that she did not own a dress suitable for such an occasion. She consulted with her best friend who suggested that she see a well known tailor by the name of Richard Robinson. Not being far from his tailor shop, she made an appointment to see him the next day. After explaining the reason why she needed a special dress, Mr. Robinson suggested that a dress with insect motifs would surely be well received and serve to highlight her chosen profession. Agreeing to the concept, the tailor stated that a special and newly discovered insect should be made the focus of her dress. Mrs. Clarkson was happy to oblige and provided Mr. Robinson with her latest find, the"Trigonopterus Yoda". Along with "Yoda"and other insects such as beetles, horntails, fleas, crickets, earwigs, etc, Mrs Clarkson chose a luminescent pink cape and a green fabric hat in the shape of leaves, again a most appropriate accoutrement given that leaves serve as a source of food for insects. The long white glove on her raised right hand is meant to attract the attention of passers by to come over and admire her magnificent dress. While a few scientists reserved judgement at the sight of her dress, the majority applauded her choice as evidenced by the standing ovation she received.

Drew Mandigo created the first seventeen Downtown Rideau Mural Boxes installed in late 2016, from his Auntie Mame Series. Stunning in their originality, Drew’s works feature digital collages of ladies dressed in 1950’s and 60’s fashions, and are inspired by the spirit of the 1958 film of the same name. Several new pieces were released as part of the 2017 mural box expansion project, including one featuring a lady trapped in a glass dome, surrounded by butterflies, and a unique piece dubbed ‘the upside-down lady’.
