This sophisticated lady is standing in front of a blue desk adorned with gold coloured buttons. She is seen wearing a blue hi-low dress, a gold coloured sash and a saucer hat over her auburn hair. Blue birds and butterflies are allowed to fly unimpeded in this well decorated house. In keeping with the colour scheme, there is an abstract blue painting to the right of Auntie Mame blue.
Drew Mandigo created the first seventeen Downtown Rideau Mural Boxes installed in late 2016, from his Auntie Mame Series. Stunning in their originality, Drew’s works feature digital collages of ladies dressed in 1950’s and 60’s fashions, and are inspired by the spirit of the 1958 film of the same name. Several new pieces were released as part of the 2017 mural box expansion project, including one featuring a lady trapped in a glass dome, surrounded by butterflies, and a unique piece dubbed ‘the upside-down lady’.
