Smithsonian Art Inventory"A Confederate soldier, dressed in a military uniform that includes a belt buckle with "CSA" on it, a brimmed hat, and a canteen and a pouch hanging from the belt, stands against a tree stump and raises his right arm with index finger pointed upward and his left arm by his side. The figure is placed atop a pedestal and a multitiered base that is surrounded by a low circular curb.
