This city hall is a Colonial Revival brick and cement building. It has an Ionic Portico, a cupola and a clock. There are columns in the front.

Auburn is on the north end of Owasco Lake, one of the Finger Lakes. It is the largest city in Cayuga County. It is also the county seat. It is known for the Auburn Correctional Facility. Abolitionist Harriet Tubman lived here, as did William Seward, Secretary of State under Abraham Lincoln. Auburn was founded in 1793. It was renamed as Auburn in 1805, originally it was Hardenbergh's Corners.
