Origine des Mées, la famille de Croze fait souche à Pertuis au XVIe siècle. Plusieurs de ses membres ont été des "bienfaiteurs" pour les pauvres de la ville. En 1705, Melchior de Croze fonde le nouvel hôpital St Jacques, aujourd'hui l'Hospice, dans la rue qui porte son nom. L'hôtel particulier de Croze fut construit à la fin du XVIIe siècle, début du XVIIIe, au quartier St Nicolas. Bâti sur des caves voûtées du XVIe siècle, il est constitué de deux ailes en angle et d'une cours. L'actuelle sale du conseil municipal, soutenue par deux colonnes toscanes, s'orne de décors, de gypseries, typiquement XVIIIe.

L'hôtel particulier de Croze est mis sous séquestre par la municipalité révolutionnaire : jospeh de Croze figure en tête de la liste des 15 "émigrés et traîtres de la patrie" de la commune de Pertuis. Il est accusé, semble t-il à tord, d'avoir rejoint "Toulon, avec les anglais et d'autres troupes ennemies de la république".
Revenu à Pertuis sous le consulat en 1803, il conteste l’occupation de sa demeure. après de longues tractations, la commune finira par acquérir l'hôtel de ville en 1828.
Au début du XXe siècle, celui-ci abritait à la fois le commissariat, la mairie, et la caisse d'épargne. Le parement de la façade et le parvis actuel datent d'une restauration des années 1970.

Origin of the Mées, the de Croze family was born in Pertuis in the 16th century. Several of its members have been "benefactors" to the city's poor. In 1705, Melchior de Croze founded the new St Jacques Hospital, now the Hospice, in the street that bears his name. The Croze mansion was built at the end of the 17th century, early 18th century, in the St Nicolas district. Built on 16th century vaulted cellars, it consists of two corner wings and a courtyard. The current city council hall, supported by two Tuscan columns, is decorated with decorations and gypseries, typically 18th century.

The town house of Croze was sequestered by the revolutionary municipality: jospeh de Croze was at the top of the list of the 15 "emigrants and traitors of the homeland" of the municipality of Pertuis. He is accused, it seems wrongly so, of having joined "Toulon, with the English and other troops enemy of the republic".
Returning to Pertuis under the consulate in 1803, he contested the occupation of his residence. After long negotiations, the town would eventually acquire the town hall in 1828.
At the beginning of the 20th century, it housed the police station, the town hall and the savings bank. The facade facing and the current square date back to a restoration in the 1970s.
